Jill qualified in 2006 from Glasgow University and started her career in mixed practice where she quickly realised small animal medicine and surgery were where her interests lay. She worked in north east England before moving back to Scotland in 2009 to a small animal practice in Paisley. From here, Jill and her partner decided to go travelling and found themselves living in Australia. She continued to work as a vet in Oz which was a fabulous experience, with the opportunity to work with lots of different animals! They returned home after a couple of years and Jill has spent the last 6 years in small animal practices in central Scotland.
In Jill’s own words: ‘I love many aspects of my job! From meeting all the new puppies and kittens to performing surgery and helping animals through medical crisis and the challenges that brings! The most rewarding part of being a vet is reuniting a happy animal with its owner at the end of the day.
I myself have two furry friends at home! A very cheeky and crazy Jack Russell called Geordie and a loveable but very annoying black cat called Sydney. I am a very keen snowboarder and love to get up the hills in the winter. I also love Yoga which helps me unwind at the end of a busy vet day and of course walking my little dog.
