Clients should be aware that referral to another specialist institution is available.
Referral can be made at the request of a client or on the advice of the attending Vet should they feel the patient is better treated with additional facilities or experience.
Referral can be made for a procedure, diagnosis or possible treatment according to the case.
Referral would be made to an institution or to an individual on the RCVS Specialist or Advanced Practitioner list where available, this should be discussed with the attending Vet
Avondale Vets frequently use the following institutions amongst others for referral, depending upon the clinicians, facilities and appointments available.
- Vets Now Hospital, part of the IVC network.
- Glasgow Small Animal Hospital
- Veterinary Vision
- Edinburgh University
- Vet Specialists Scotland
Referral to Specialist services can only be made through the practice, client’s will be unable to arrange referral directly.
In the event of referral your clinical details, medical history etc, contact details and any supporting documentation such and blood result and images will be shared the referral clinicians.
The referral institution will then be in contact to arrange an appointment time.
Additional fees will be payable to the referral centre according to their charging structures, these should be discussed with your attending Vet.
